The VirRAD Project will innovatively combine a number of currently available technologies, such as virtual reality, web based multimedia displays, and streaming video to produce a flexible learning environment that will suit a number of levels and types of learner experience. These technologies will be integrated into a pedagogical framework that also introduces new techniques of learner modelling. The learner models will provide input into the learning environment that will encourage not only the acquisition of technical knowledge and procedural skills but also meta-level knowledge that will enable and enhance the learner's understanding of the process of learning; hence promoting valuable transferable skills.
